So being on a hunger strike and going to a Filipino Baby Shower is not recommended.
I'm here at my cousin's shower with a house packed full of Filipino food. They don't really understand how or why I would deprive myself of the feast they have prepared because of cultural belief. In some cultures, its even considered rude to not eat food that is offered to you.
Having to explain my choice and my journey is a bit difficult, but they have respect for the fact that I am holding strong and demanding change in our world. I'm starving for my right to serve my country and I'm going to keep at it until I can't take it anymore.
